Cynthia Mason, CNM
Cynthia graduated from Case Western Reserve University with her Master's Degree in Nurse Midwifery and Women's Health in 2009. She is a Cleveland, Ohio native and has had extensive training as a registered nurse and patient advocate in the hospital setting to support women during labor and birth. Cynthia spent 4 months at Charleston Birthplace, a free-standing birth center in Charleston, SC that primarily does waterbirth. Not only did she fall in love with the warmth and charm of the south, but she also fell in love with out of hospital birth and waterbirth! While living down south in 2008, Cynthia became certified in waterbirth through Waterbirth International at a conference led by Barbara Harper. She is excited to have found herself in a practice that routinely uses water immersion during labor and birth! Cynthia is ecstatic to be a member of West Suburban Midwife Associates and be able to serve such a dynamic and diverse population of women! In 2012 she served as a midwife representative for the state of Illinois on their Healthy Moms Healthy Babies Project and is the main statician for West Suburban Midwife Associates.
Cynthia participates in Oak Park's Adult Recreational Co-Ed Soccer League, Derby Lite recreational roller derby and enjoys hiking, knitting and singing. Cynthia resides in Elmwood Park with her husband Alan, cat Luigi Marco Polo and Newfoundland puppy Luna.
